Definition of Hazardous Waste:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency defines a hazardous substance as anything that is a) FLAMMABLE, b) CORROSIVE, c) TOXIC (Poisonous), or d) REACTIVE (explosive) when combined with another substance. These substances should not be disposed of in household garbage and they are not accepted at the Holly Hill Resource Recovery Facility.

The Town of Greenwich conducts one Household Hazardous Waste Day each Spring, where you can dispose of your household hazardous waste demonstrating the above listed hazardous characteristics. It is held at the Island Beach parking lot on Arch Street off of exit 3 (I-95). It is for use by residents only - no commercial loads accepted.
