Protecting Children Online
While on-line computer exploration opens up a world of possibilities for children, expanding their horizons and exposing them to different ways of life, they can be exposed to a variety of dangers as they hit the road exploring the information highway.
There are individuals who attempt to exploit children through the use of on-line services and the Internet. Some of these individuals gradually seduce their targets through the use of attention, affection, kindness, and even gifts.
The Greenwich Police Department provides a free program that will teach parents how to protect their children on-line and how to detect what their children may be doing on-line, with special emphasis on America Online. This program, which is approximately 2 hours in length, has been presented at Greenwich Continuing Adult Education, and for several School PTAs and other parenting groups. If you are interested in having this program presented before your PTA or other civic organization, contact Detective Kent Reynolds by e-mail or at (203) 622-8072.
