Overnight Camping                  Permit Request Form

Great Captain Island

Fee:    $55.00 reservation and $19 per person

Capacity: 25 people total/3 groups max

Permit Holder must be 21 or older to make reservation and be present for duration of event.

Residency must be established with two proofs for the primary addressee on the household account and one proof for the permit holder (if not the primary addressee) at or before the time of reservation. Acceptable proofs of residency; residential rental lease, current utility bill, current credit card bill, bank statement, CT ID Card or Driver’s License will be accepted as proof).

 ·          A non-refundable $55.00 reservation fee is required to secure the date and location. Cost: $19.00 per person Camping Fee: includes island camping ticket, parking ticket, and ferry ticket. (Payable at time of reservation).

·          Reservations must be made at least one week before the date of the overnight campout.

·          Permit is for overnight camping of no more than 25 people per evening (may be up to 3 separate groups).

·          Only one night per family per season. Permits are non-transferable.

·          Area available for overnight camping: June 10, 2017 – September 10, 2017.

·          Greenwich Municipal Code; Chapter 7 governing use of public bathing beaches & recreational areas applies in all cases.

·          All Parks and Recreation Accounts must be paid in full at time of reservation.

·          Permits are non-transferable and are revocable.

·          Permit Holder must be 21 or older to make reservation and be present for duration of event.

·          Permit Holder is responsible for any damage to Town properties. The Town of Greenwich assumes no liability in relation to issuance of the permit and the applicant releases the Town of Greenwich accordingly.

·          The Permit Holder takes responsibility to insure all litter, waste food, and recyclables have been collected and placed in appropriate containers. Permit Holder will be billed for non-compliance.

·          Upon arrival the permit holder must present them self to the Island Caretaker, display the permit, and show proof of ID (Park Pass, DL, etc.)

·          No campsite can be erected before 7:30pm. The Caretaker must approve of the campsite.

·          Campsite must be broken down no later than 9:00am.

·          The use of loud speakers or amplified music in conjunction with events is prohibited except as expressly permitted by the Director of Parks and Recreation.

·          Grills, picnic tables, restrooms, and shower facilities are available. No personal grills allowed.

·          Kegs and glassware are prohibited on islands.

·          No pets allowed.

·          No weddings permitted.

·          All fireworks are prohibited.

·          Special Event Permit (Building Dept.) and Insurance Certificate required for all inflatable outdoor play structures (i.e. bouncy house).

·          GCI Ferry runs based on the tide and has a sporadic schedule. (See Ferry Schedule for times).

·          Use of personal boat is permitted to islands. Camping fee per person still applies.

Changing # of Participants

·         To increase the # of participants, you may purchase additional tickets, space permitting. Camping tickets are available only at Parks & Recreation Dept. at Town Hall.

·         To decrease the # of participants, you must put the request in writing and return the camping ticket no later than thirty (30) days prior to the overnight in order to be refunded.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY: Reservation must be cancelled at least thirty (30) days prior to event for a refund. If campout is cancelled due to inclement weather, a request for refund must be made in writing within one (1) week from day of event. The reservation fee is not refundable for any type of cancellation. There is a $25 administrative fee for date changes for any reason other than inclement weather. Refunds will only be issued upon return of ALL camping tickets. Requests must be sent to Parks & Recreation Attn: Camping Refunds.
