The Alliance Francaise of Greenwich again gathered the French community to celebrate Bastille Day, historically marking the storming of the Bastille in 1789 and now celebrated as the French National Day. Co-Presidents Renee Ketcham and Gail Covney welcomed Mr. Yann Yochum, Deputy Counsel of the French Consulate in New York (pictured below), and Mr. Jean Lachaud, President of the American Society of Le Souvenir Francais, and Colonel Serge Gabriel, Life Member of the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route Association.
The French flag was raised by Ryan Walczuk with assistance from Colonel Serge Gabriel.
A celebratory “petit dejeuner” was offered courtesy of Versailles of Greenwich. Pictured left to right: Evelyne Penvenne, Jean Lachaud, Renee Ketcham and Marc Penvenne. The Penvennes are the owners of Versailles.
