Giving Women an Advantage in Cardiac Health
On Wednesday, May 5, Greenwich Hospital joins with Greenwich Library in presenting an internationally known academic physician, author, lecturer and specialist in women's health, Marianne Legato, MD. Legato's talk begins at 9:15 a.m. The doctor is a practicing NYC internist and professor of clinical medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Dr. The talk will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Greenwich Hospital specialists in areas such as HRT (hormone replacement therapy, the role of diet in cardiovascular health, and advances in lipids and cholesterol testing. This program takes place in conjunction with the Greenwich Hospital - Yale New Haven Health System's major public awareness campaign called Women's Heart Advantage.

Dr. Legato is also founder and director of the Partnership for Gender-Specific Medicine at Columbia University. It is the first collaboration between academic medicine and the private sector solely focused solely on biological differences between men and women and their effect on diagnosis and treatment. A dynamic speaker, Dr. Legato has been featured on ABC's "20/20", Good Morning America, Good Day New York, The Today Show, Oprah and other top shows. She has been recognized in Mirabella magazine, the New York Times, and was named "An American Health Hero" by American Health for Women.

Free Cholesterol and Blood Pressure Screenings will be offered from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the Greenwich Library Health Information Center. Participants will receive a free Women's Heart Advantage Kit, including a heart-smart cookbook and important cardiac awareness information for women.
