Casework Services
Casework Services are offered to Adults (through age 54), and Families. The Team’s staff offers support services to individuals who have psychiatric disabilities. Most programs and services are provided at Town Hall, but some programs take applications at, or are conducted at, community sites or in the home. Residents without transportation can be seen at home, or can be transported to Town Hall for help. Services include:
- Mental Health crisis intervention
- Case Management
- Advocacy
- Social support groups for the mentally ill, as needed (Social Club, Mental Health Support Group)
- Substance abuse assessment, and referral
- Assistance with benefit and entitlement applications and redeterminations: HUSKY, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, ConnPace, subsidized housing, food, clothing, medications, and other special needs.
- Temporary emergency financial assistance;
- Energy Assistance
- Eviction prevention and mediation
- Activities of family living: bill-paying, shopping services, transportation
- Budget and money management counseling
- Housing advocacy and assistance
- Immigration assistance

Community Gift Program: Alison Brush (622-3715)
The Community Gifts Program uses private donations to provide concrete assistance to eligible residents at specific times throughout the year. Clients must have income below 175% of federal poverty guidelines to qualify. Referrals are accepted from all sources. Effort is made to coordinate assistance with other human service agencies to avoid duplication. Aid is provided by generous private individuals, groups, and businesses. Clients are identified and assistance is issued through Department staff. Donations are overseen by an independent fiduciary and do not become Town funds.
- Campership Program: summer camp scholarships and transportation
- Boots and Shoes: Fall vouchers for back-to-school footwear
- Holiday Aid: gift and food assistance during the holidays
- Salvation Army Fund Administration: Emergency fund; employment barriers fund; child care fund; heavy
cleaning fund, and respite care fund

- Youth Conservation Project: Short-term Summer employment program for 14-15 year-olds.
