Live RTM Broadcast on Cable Channel 79 Tonight Monday, May 10th: The broadcast begins at 7:45 p.m. tonight and the RTM meeting will follow at 8:00 p.m.
Town employees, local residents and Representative Town Meeting (RTM) members joined forces last month to do a live test during the April RTM meeting from the Central Middle School (CMS) auditorium. With support from the First Selectman's office, the Town's IT Department and RTM moderator Thomas Byrne, RTM member Paul Curtis coordinated the effort with Board of Education member Toni Tripodi and principal Dr. James Bulger at CMS.
Channel 79 was launched by the Town of Greenwich in 2003 with the assistance of Area Nine Cable Council members and an initial grant from Cablevision. Since then, a variety of recorded programming has been scheduled under the direction of the First Selectman's office. With the introduction of live broadcasts, town residents will have the ability to watch Town meetings from home and "be better informed about local issues, translating to even better government," Byrne said.
This public service is available to Greenwich Cablevision subscribers. The Area Nine Cable Council (ANCC) is a state mandated governmental body made up of appointed volunteer representatives who serve as an advisory group representing our community's interests to the area's Cable Television providers and the State of Connecticut's Department of Public Utility Control (DPUC).
