Help Keep Our Skies and Our Communities Safe Dear Residents: The Alliance for Sensible Airspace Planning (AfSAP) is happy to announce the launch of the official AfSAP website, www.sensibleairspace.org. This website was created to inform citizens who will be affected by the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) ill-constructed flight path redesign plan how the plan threatens to harm our communities. In addition, through the website, you can learn what each of us can do, as citizens, to ensure that the FAA does not move forward with implementing this flawed plan, and you can take action to protect our communities. Currently, the FAA redesign would:
* Increase air and noise pollution in dozens of communities across Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, affecting as many as 29 million people. In fact, our communities would experience a three-fold increase in noise pollution. * Bring as many as 150 more planes a day over northern Westchester County, New York, and western Fairfield County, Connecticut. * Result in planes flying over our communities closer together and at lower altitudes, potentially compromising air and ground safety. We urge you to visit www.sensibleairspace.org and sign the petition against the FAA's redesign plan. Please also let your friends and neighbors know of this critical issue and encourage them to visit the website as well. The FAA should be required to adhere to its own standards and mission. The FAA's primary mission is to ensure safety, not just of travelers in the air, but also of citizens on the ground. Your support for this effort will help ensure that they do.
