June 9: Tree Conservancy Tree Walk There will be a Tree Walk at the Garden Education Center/Montgomery Pinetum. The Montgomery Pinetum is the former estate of Colonel Robert Montgomery, a local accountant, professor and horticulturist of the early 1900's. As trees became his passion, he set out to plant his estate, then called "Wildacres", with rare and unusual specimens from all over the world. In the greenhouse, now used by the Town of Greenwich, Colonel Montgomery propagated many unusual evergreens and planted them out on the grounds. Many of his specimens are still on the property today.
The Garden Education Center is located on the property. Join us as we take a walk through history and through the Pinetum to look at some of the interesting and unusual trees and marvel at their beauty at 10 AM. Email: The Greenwich Tree Conservancy to reserve a spot.
