News:

Low Interest Loans Available for Flood Damage
Governor M. Jodi Rell today encouraged Connecticut residents and businesspeople who sustained losses from the record October floods to apply for low-interest loans at outreach centers being opened tomorrow by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in Enfield and Wethersfield.

Greenwich emergency management along with federal and state officials will be meeting the week of Jan 9th to review needs in the town of Greenwich.

Homeowners, renters, and businesses throughout Connecticut are eligible to apply for low-interest federal loans, thanks to the SBA's approval of Governor Rell's request for a disaster declaration.

"I am grateful to the SBA for its quick response to my request for assistance on behalf of Connecticut residents and businesspeople who suffered damages from the flooding," the Governor said. "The opening of the two outreach centers on Wednesday is an especially welcome step by the SBA to help people through the application process. I strongly encourage all homeowners, renters or businesses who may be interested in a low-interest loan to apply as soon as possible and not to wait for insurance settlements or contractor estimates."

Temporary disaster outreach centers will open at noon Wednesday, January 4, at the Enfield Senior Center, 299 Elm Street in Enfield; and the Pitkin Community Center, 30 Greenfield Street in Wethersfield. Both centers will be open Monday through Friday, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., until further notice. In addition, the Wethersfield center will be open Saturday, January 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
