Household Hazardous Waste Day
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency defines a hazardous substance as anything
that is flammable, corrosive, toxic, or reactive (explosive) when combined with
another substance. These substances should not be disposed of in household garbage
and they are not accepted at the Holly Hill Resource Recovery Facility.
The Town of Greenwich conducts two Household Hazardous Waste Days annually,
one in the spring and one in the fall, where you can dispose of your household
hazardous waste. It is held in the Greenwich High School parking lot on Hillside Road.
It is for Greenwich residents only - no commercial loads accepted.
If you can't take advantage of Hazardous Waste Day in Greenwich, you can
contact the Holly Hill Facility at 203-869-6910 for information on how you can
receive permission to make use of Household Hazardous Waste Day in neighboring towns.
