Milbrook & North Mianus
Sewer Extension Projects

Extension Projects · FAQs · Contractor Info · Email Us

These expansions incorporated a blend of gravity sewers, low-pressure sewers, and two pump stations. Some properties served by gravity sewers required pumps where the homes and/or sanitary fixtures were located below the elevation of the gravity sewers.

Gravity sewers were located wherever installation was feasible, practical, and cost effective. Where gravity sewers were impractical, low-pressure sewers were designed. A low-pressure sewer acts much like a water system, in reverse. Each home has a pump (provided by the Town), which pumps to a small diameter pipe in the street, following the existing grades. These lines are typically no more than 4 feet deep. This approach allowed the Town to sewer areas that might not have been able to receive sewer service if traditional gravity sewer had been used throughout - the cost would have been too great.

Milbrook Sewer Extension

Milbrook The Milbrook project was completed in October of 2002, and letters permitting homeowners to connect to the system were sent out in January 2003. Connections should be completed within this area by November 2004, a total of 22 months.

This project area included Anderson Road, Cliff Road, Orchard Drive, Overlook Drive, Pintail Lane, Spring Road, West Brother Drive, Wildwood Drive, and Woodside Drive.

North Mianus Sewer Extension

North Mianus The North Mianus Sewer Extension was completed in two phases, North Mianus East and North Mianus West. Work began on the eastern side in September 2001, and was completed in late 2003. In addition, two pump stations were also constructed during that time to convey flow to the Town main. Construction began on the western side in 2002 and was completed in September 2004.
