This Division enforces the Connecticut State Building Code and the Town of Greenwich Building Zone Regulations (Zoning Regulations). The office issues building permits for

• Construction and alterations of all buildings
• Swimming pools
• Tennis courts
• Signs
• Special events
• Demolition of buildings

This building permit includes zoning approval. There is no separate zoning permit issued. Trade permits, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) are also issued by this office.

Inspections are made by building, electrical, plumbing and HVAC inspectors at critical stages of construction to ensure compliance with all applicable codes. Zoning inspectors also inspect projects when applicable.

The Building Official enforces all state and local codes and ordinances governing the construction of buildings and other structures, including all mechanical and electrical systems contained within. The Zoning Enforcement Officer enforces all local zoning regulations.
