New Permit Record Room Opens on May 17th
The Division of Building Inspection, DPW is pleased to announce that its new building permit record room opened to the public on May 17, 2004. This newly renovated room is the first phase of renovation proposed for this division. This room has a public counter to serve title searchers and the general public in their research of old building permit files. These files date back to the creation of this division in 1926. Common inquiries of these records include searches for Certificates of Occupancy, plot plans and building plans.
This new public counter will assist this division in providing more efficient service to the public and will be staffed during the hours of 9:00am to 2:00pm Monday through Friday. The room is provided with coin operated copy machine and a microfilm viewer/copier for the use of the public to make copies of documents. Inquiries regarding these permit files will no longer be accepted at the division's main counter but will be directed to the counter in this new record room.
