School Resource Officer
In the year 2007 the Town of Greenwich Police Department in partnership with the Board of Education established a School Resource Officer program.
The SRO program is community based and involves the introduction and placement of a fully trained Greenwich Police Officer with the Greenwich High School
The program is adaptable to all communities along with faculty and school staff it is geared towards a safer school environment
The National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) is the most widely recognized organization that provides training for law enforcement officers assigned to school communities.
The Board of Education along with the department conducted an interview process and subsequently selected Greenwich Police Officer Carlos Franco as the Town’s first SRO.
SRO Franco’s assignment to the Greenwich High School since the fall of 2007-08 has resulted in a positive experience for the students, faculty members and police through his daily interactions and teaching at the school.
