Criminal Investigations Division
The Division consists of one Deputy Chief, one Lieutenant, three Sergeants and 22 Detectives
of which five are assigned to the Youth Section under the supervision of a Sergeant, three
Court Liaison Officers and one Administrative Assistant.
The Identification Section and Youth Section are located within the Criminal Investigations Division, in addition to specialty units that concentrate on arson, auto theft and burglary investigations. The CID is also staffed with a polygraphist. All CID personnel have been extensively trained in specialty areas and have all been trained in Practical Homicide Investigation by Vernon J. Geberth, Retired Lieutenant Commander, N.Y.P.D. Homicide Division. Besides their investigative duties, Detectives assigned to the Youth Section speak at all local schools and conduct tours of the Police Department for local youth-related groups such as Cub Scouts, Brownies, etc. If you would like to invite a Detective to speak, call Sergeant James Marr at (203) 622-3969.
