Criminal Investigations Division
The Division consists of one Deputy Chief, one Lieutenant, three Sergeants, 17 Detectives, five Youth Officers, three Court
Liaison Officers and one Administrative Assistant. Detectives within the Criminal Investigations Division investigate cases
related, but not limited to:
The Identification Bureau and Youth Division is located within the Criminal Investigations Division, in addition to specialty units that concentrate on arson, auto theft and burglary investigations. The CID is also staffed with a polygraphist. All CID personnel have been extensively trained in specialty areas and have all been trained in Practical Homicide Investigation by Vernon J. Geberth, Retired Lieutenant Commander, NYPD Homicide Division. Besides their investigative duties, Youth Officers speak at all local schools and conduct tours of the Police Department for local youth-related groups such as Cub Scouts, Brownies, etc. If you would like to invite a youth officer to speak, call (203) 622-8018.
