Coastal Resources Advisory Committee Established February 17, 2009: First Selectman Peter J. Tesei has announced the formation of the First Selectman's Coastal Resources Advisory Committee, which has been formed for the following purposes: Advise the First Selectman regarding the development and implementation of the Town's Waterways Management Plan. Advise the First Selectman of any recommended changes to the Town boating ordinances. Advise the First Selectman regarding actions to ensure continuing efforts to address the protection and enhancement of the Town's coastal habitat and water quality. Advise the First Selectman concerning recreational and commercial uses of the Town's coastal waters. Accept reports and suggestions from the Harbor Master. Receive reports and communication from the public pertaining to the Town's coastal waters. Consult with the Town's Marine Police Department on specific problems and work with the Police Department, Fire Department, US Coast Guard, Harbor Master and boating organizations to promote boating safety. Carry out such other assignments as may be directed to it from time to time by the First Selectman. Provide the First Selectman with progress reports as necessary and an annual report of the Committee's activities.
The Coastal Resources Advisory Committee will consist of fourteen members appointed by the First Selectman for terms of three years, initially expiring on January 31, 2012, as follows:
Nine voting members who are active residents and users of the Town's coastal resources, in good standing, representing the Town's main harbor areas: Port Chester Harbor/Byram River, Byram Harbor/Belle Haven, Grass Island/Indian Harbor, Mianus River/Cos Cob, and Greenwich Cove.
Five ex-officio non voting members, to include the State appointed Town Harbor Master and a representative of the Marine Police, Department of Parks & Recreation, Conservation Commission and the Shellfish Commission.
