Parking Meter Rates and Fines Increase March 1 Parking meter rates in Greenwich will increase on March 1, 2007. The parking rate for all long term 8-12 hour meters be raised from 25 cents to 50 cents and the short term meters on Greenwich Avenue, Putnam Avenue, Amogerone Crossway, Lewis Street, Elm Street, Griggs Street, and Rail Road Avenue to include the Soundview Arch Street parking lot will be increased from .50 cents to .75 cents.
The rate conversion of the 2800 town parking meters will take approximately two weeks. The short term, 2 hour meters on Greenwich Avenue will be the first rates to be increased from $.50 cents per hour to $.75 cents (.25 per 20 minutes).
In addition to the parking meter rate increase there will be an increase to parking meter violation fines. Overtime parking will raise from $15.00 to $20.00, and the meter feeding violation fine from $50.00 to $55.00 with a stipulation if the fine is paid by close of business the following day it will be reduced by $5.00.
