The Department of Parks and Recreation announces registration has started for its Winter Youth Basketball Programs.  We will once again offer a Co-Ed Program on Saturdays at the International School at Dundee Gym for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.  There will also be a Co-Ed program at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center for children in kindergarten through fourth grade.  In addition, we will again offer a Basketball Clinic that is exclusively for girls on Saturdays at the International School at Dundee Gym.  This is open to girls in kindergarten through second grade.  All programs will begin on Saturday, November 18, 2017, and run through Saturday, February 3, 2018.  There will be no meetings on Saturday, November 25, Saturday, December 23 and Saturday, December 30.

The Co-Ed Programs are designed to teach the basic skills of basketball and to help players sharpen their existing skills.  Game strategy, rules and sportsmanship are stressed and some in-house game play is included at every level.  Players are grouped by grade at each location.

The Girl’s clinic is designed to introduce young players to basketball and help prepare them for house or travel programs that are available to older girls.  It will introduce players to the basic skills of dribbling, passing shooting and defense with some scrimmaging opportunities.
