Greenwich Department of Health advises all Greenwich residents who ate at the Bartaco restaurant in Port Chester, New York between August 22, 2017 and October 23, 2017 to read the following:

The Westchester County Department of Health has confirmed a case of Hepatitis A in a food service worker who recently worked at the Bartaco restaurant in Port Chester, NY while infectious. Individuals who ate or drank at Bartaco between Oct 12 and Oct 23, 2017 should receive post-exposure treatment for Hepatitis A. Exposed individuals must receive the Hepatitis A vaccine within 14 days of their exposure in order for it to be effective. The Westchester County Department of Health is offering post-exposure prophylaxis free of charge to those who were exposed at:

Patients should pre-register at www.health.ny.gov/gotoclinic or call 211 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Greenwich Hospital has Hepatitis A vaccine available to treat anyone who may have been exposed within the past two weeks (fee or insurance apply) at the following locations:

Westchester County has also reported Hepatitis A cases in restaurant patrons who ate at the Bartaco restaurant in Port Chester NY in early September 2017. This is a different exposure from the currently identified worker. Patients who ate or drank at the restaurant between August 22nd and October 11, 2017 may have been exposed to Hepatitis A. These individuals should be evaluated by their health care provider for Hepatitis A infection as outlined in the County’s Public Health Alert: http://health.westchestergov.com/news/alerts

All suspected and confirmed cases of Hepatitis A should promptly be reported to the Westchester County Department of Health at 914-813-5159 (business hours) or at 914-813-5000 (after hours).
