Welcome to The Nathaniel Witherell, a 5-Star, Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center owned and operated
by the Town of Greenwich. As a municipal facility our residents stay connected to the rich culture
and community life that is part of our town. Our record for excellent care is reflected in State
and Federal surveys. One in particular may hold the key. Witherell staff members have a turnover
rate 10 times lower than the State average. As a result, we're able to build relationships of trust
between our staff and our residents.
At Witherell we maintain separate and distinct units for short-term rehab care, long-term care
and special dementia care. It may surprise you to learn more people come to The Nathaniel Witherell
for short-term care than for long-term care. Our full-time rehab staff provides physical, occupational
and speech therapy services seven days a week. If your goal is a return to the community we will work
actively with you on a comprehensive discharge plan.
If your choice is long-term you should know our policy is to give our highly trained nurses and
assistants permanent assignments. Studies confirm this enables our residents to feel more secure
and at home. The staff of our specialized Camelot unit is trained in Alzheimer type dementia care.
Camelot provides a safe; secure environment and programs including exercise, music and reminiscence therapy.
We have all the services to meet our residents' needs and make their stay as pleasant as possible.
They will find a beauty and barbershop, café, gift shop, worship services, art shows and
activities. Many of these activities are augmented by our volunteer auxiliary, which is why they
are offered with a unique blend of warmth and caring.
Finally, there is our setting - 24 beautiful acres just off North Street 2 miles from downtown
Greenwich. Hopefully, our web site will provide answers to many of your questions but feel
free to contact us for a personal tour. We think you will agree with a relative of one of our residents who said, "As you walk into Witherell you can feel the friendliness of the staff."
