June 27: 18th Annual Salute To Veterans The Veterans Appreciation Council and The Intrepid Museum Foundation will host the 18th Annual Salute To Veterans on Saturday 27 June 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Havemeyer Field located behind Greenwich Town Hall.
The Salute To Veterans was first held in 1992 at Tod's Point.
The highlight of the day will be an honor ceremony for those men and women who have worn our nation's uniform during which time all veterans in attendance will gather around a 1,500 square foot American flag during the playing of our national anthem.
The guest speaker will be U.S. Navy SEAL Rear Admiral (S) Brian Losey. RDML (S) Losey is currently assigned to the Executive Office of the President as a Director in the Office of Combating Terrorism, National Security Council. Also, he has completed multiple deployments to command Joint/Combined Special Operations Task Forces in Afghanistan, and deployed as a Naval Special Operations Component Commander to Joint/Combined Special Operations Task Forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Following the ceremony there will be a military demonstration by The U.S. Navy SEALs.
This ceremony is an opportunity for nearby communities to gather around our nation's most cherished resource in veterans and say "Thank You and Welcome Home".
