2008: Shellfishing Event at Greenwich Point Visit Shellfishing Boats "old and new" at Greenwich Point and learn to Shellfish with the Town of Greenwich Shellfish Commission on November 9th, 2008. With the Greenwich recreational shellfishing beds opening for the season in the first week of November, the Town of Greenwich Shellfish Commission will hold a shellfishing clinic on Sunday November 9th.
The event will take place at Greenwich Point between 12.00pm and 3.00pm on Sunday (low tide) - meeting next to the Old Greenwich Yacht Club opposite the Chimes Building.
Three working shellfishing boats (Oyster and Clams) including one antique boat, will be moored at the Old Greenwich Yacht Club dock and can be visited by the general public. At the same time a "hands on" demonstration of shellfishing will take place.
Bring waterproof boots, a plastic bag or bucket, a garden rake or fork and join in the fun (dress warmly).
Take home the fresh clams that you find yourselves... adults and children of all ages are welcome to participate.
