June 28: 17th Annual Salute to Veterans! The Veterans Appreciation Council and The Intrepid Museum Foundation will host the 17th Annual Salute To Veterans on Saturday 28 June 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Havemeyer Field located behind Greenwich Town Hall.
The Salute To Veterans was first held in 1992 at Tod's Point.
The highlight of the day will be an honor ceremony for those men and women who have worn our nation's uniform during which time all veterans in attendance will gather around a 1,500 square foot American flag during the playing of our national anthem.
The guest speaker will be US Marine Brigadier General John Toolan. General Toolan served in Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 and 2, as well as the Allied Force during the Kosovo crisis, and Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Following the ceremony there will be a military demonstration by The U.S. Navy SEALs and U.S. Marines.
This ceremony is an opportunity for nearby communities to gather around our nation's most cherished resource in veterans and say "Thank You and Welcome Home".
Questions can be directed to Jim Carrier of The Veterans Appreciation Council, on (203) 981-4340.
