2008 Citizens' Police Academy Spring Program The Greenwich Police Department is accepting applications for the 2008 Citizens Police Academy Spring Session. The 11-week program will commence on March 27, 2008 and will meet each week from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Greenwich Town Hall. Graduation will be held on June 5, 2008. A completed application and a photocopy of your motor vehicle operator's license must be received at the Greenwich Police Department Neighborhood Resource Section no later than March 14, 2008. The Citizens Police Academy is a program that provides Greenwich residents with a first hand overview of the law enforcement and community related functions of the Greenwich Police Department. Topics of instruction include: Accident Investigation, Motor vehicle law, DUI, Use of Force, Motor Vehicle Stops, Narcotics Investigations, Police Canine, Special Response Unit, Crime Scenes, Criminal Investigations, Marine Division. *Instructors for the program will be highly trained and experienced Greenwich Police Officers. There is no fee for the eleven-week program and any Greenwich resident 21 years of age or older may apply. Due to the high demand for this class, qualified applicants will be subject to a lottery drawing to determine the final class roster, as seating will be limited to 25 persons. A criminal history background check will be performed on all applicants. If accepted, you will be contacted by the Greenwich Police Department during the week of March 17, 2008. Applicants should be available to attend classes on the following dates: March 27, April 3, 10, 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and June 5, 2008.
