April 25, 2004: 5K March for Measles Every minute about one child in Africa dies from measles. Every year, there are 12 million cases and 450,000 deaths from measles in Africa. Measles, which is spread through the air, is one of the most contagious diseases known. For less than a dollar (80 cents), a child can be easily and safely vaccinated against measles. That dollar covers the cost of all necessary resources, including the vaccine, syringes, cotton balls, safe disposal of syringes, training for volunteers and the resources for spreading the word about measles in local communities.
Join the American Red Cross "Measles March" at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park on Sunday, April 25th, 11:00 a.m., rain or shine and help raise money to combat measles in Africa. For more information, click here or call Pam Tinoco at (203) 869-8444.
