June is National Fireworks Safety Month Fireworks are illegal in the State of Connecticut. However, non-explosive fireworks like sparklers can be purchased and used by residents 16 and older. Every year over ten thousand persons are injured from fireworks, which include eye injuries, burns, lacerations, and loss of fingers. Some people have even lost their lives and tragically, most of these injuries occur within our younger population. The only safe way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional display, such as those sponsored by the Town's Department of Parks and Recreation. For more information about Fireworks safety call the Greenwich Fire Department at 203-622-3954 and the Greenwich Department of Health at 203-622-7838.
