The Greenwich Department of Health, directed by Caroline Calderone Baisley, Director of Health, offers a vision for the new Century by providing essential public health services and guidance to local health providers in an effort to prevent disease, premature death, illness and disability in the Greenwich population. Functioning as the statutory base of local public health activities, the Department of Health will promote individual and community health; lead the community toward a healthier lifestyle and advocate for health policies that enrich the quality of life.
Toward that end, through public and political support, the Department will continue to enforce laws and regulations to protect the public's health, respond to disease out breaks and plan for public health emergencies that would require a public health response. Through collaboration with community health providers, the Department will also identify critical health needs, allocate health resources to those who need them and strive to reduce health disparities so that equal access to health care can be obtained by all.
