Social Services
Senior Services
Seniors-1_400x320.jpgOur Senior Services are geared to adult residents, fifty years of age and above and may include members of their immediate family. We provide a broad range of services to individuals and families who need assistance in maintaining or achieving their full potential for self-direction, self-reliance and independent living in the community. Home visits are easily arranged for those unable to travel to the Town’s DSS offices.

Our Senior Services staff works to ensure that Greenwich’s elderly have access to the supportive services necessary to live with dignity, security, and independence.

Our senior services staff strives to:

  • Help seniors meet basic needs of food, shelter, economic support and health care;
  • Promote and support the choice to live with dignity in one’s own home and community; and
  • Promote and support the achievement of economic viability in the workforce.
Seniors1_250x330.jpgOur services include:
  • Applications for benefit and entitlement programs: Social Security, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, Energy Assistance, Renters Rebate, Veteran’s Benefits;
  • In-home assessments to develop a service plan of care;
  • Guidance and evaluation for housing including eviction concerns;
  • Assistance with employment and training concerns;
  • In-home assessments for Department’s Homemaker Services;
  • Protective Services for those over the age of sixty who may be experiencing financial exploitation, abuse, neglect or self-neglect;
  • Guidance through the petition process of Probate Court for those who may need a conservator;
