Chaplaincy Services
Concerns of the human spirit are very important at The Nathaniel Witherell for resident well-being. In order to meet the needs of residents of all faiths, the Greenwich Chaplaincy Services, an interfaith, non-profit ministry, provides resources for pastoral care, religious services, and spiritual guidance.
 Our chaplain, The Rev. Heather Parkinson-Webb, in coordination with the chaplaincy team and other local clergy, provides pastoral care visits and arranges worship and study experiences. Services of all faiths are arranged for residents. On a rotating basis, Protestant services are provided by clergy from local denominations and Mass is celebrated by a Catholic priest, Fr. Steve DeLuca. Rabbis from local synagogues come for visitation and provide services for special holidays. Both Catholic and Protestant Eucharistic ministers are regular Sunday visitors. In addition, a resident can have the chaplain arrange for individual visits or special religious rites with the clergy of his or her choice.
During the week, there are four regularly scheduled services that residents can attend, plus other special support gatherings:
- Catholic Mass is celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. and Rosary is on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
- Protestant services are on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
- For those interested, Bible Study is held on Mondays at 3:30 p.m.
- Once a week, a time of songs, prayer, and scripture and touch-interaction is available for those with special needs, such as Alzheimer's.
