The Department of Social Services operates under the policy direction of the Greenwich Board of Social Services. Board members are Greenwich residents who are nominated by the Board of Selectmen and confirmed by the Representative Town Meeting. Board meetings are held in Town Hall, usually on the third Tuesday evening of the month. Board members welcome hearing from townspeople about emerging social welfare needs.
The mission of the Department of Social Services is to enhance the quality of life of Greenwich residents through support in meeting basic human needs and promoting services that foster self-sufficiency and economic independence.
