This working group is formed for the purpost of evaluating the merits of implementing the Local Tax Deferral Option for Seniors and present recommendations to the Town governing bodies for consideration and approval and such other matters as the Working Group may deem appropriate.

Deferral Programs
Throughout the entire State, 991 people are documented as taking advantage of local deferral program.
17.2% (29) of Connecticut municipalities have deferral programs and they vary widely.
Income limits range from $0-$75,000 for single persons and $0-$84,000 for married couples;
The maximum percentage that can be deferred ranges from 25% - 100%, with the most common maximum percentage being 75% or more of his or her property taxes, a lien must be placed on the home. Almost all municipalities with a deferral program place a lien on the property.
