Q. What is the Fleet Department responsible for and how many vehicles does the Town have? A. The Fleet Department is responsible for all Town vehicles. The Town's Fleet consists of 205 light- duty vehicles, 133 heavy-duty vehicles, (over 10,000 gross vehicle weight) and 165 pieces of non- rolling stock (plows, sanders, generator, trailers, rollers, for example)
Q. How many people work in the Fleet Department? A. The Fleet Department has 15 full-time and two permanent part- time employees, of which 11 are skilled mechanical technicians, including two foreman, two clerical support staff, a Superintendent and a Fleet Director.
Q. What services and functions are performed at the Vehicle Maintenance Center? A. The Fleet Department operates the Vehicle Maintenance Center, which is a repair facility with 12 bays and four light-duty lifts, two medium-duty lifts and one heavy-duty lift. The department uses a fleet maintenance software program that schedules and performs a comprehensive preventative maintenance program and monitors the Town's fuel usage through an automated fuel program.
