Q. Who may borrow materials from the Library?
A. People who
- live in Greenwich
- live in other towns in Connecticut
- work or go to school in Greenwich
- live in another state but have paid for a Library membership
Q. What do I need to get a library card here?
A. Town Residents need to provide one of the following documents with a Greenwich residential address:
- Current CT driver's license with Greenwich address *
*Greenwich residents who have not yet updated their driver's license information may provide current photo identification, and one of the following proofs of current residential address. A post office box is not acceptable.
- Current CT Photo ID
- Current Beach Card
- Telephone Bill
- Cable Bill
- Utility Bill
- Credit Card Bill
- Automobile registration
- Automobile insurance card
People who work in Greenwich must provide:
- Photo identification and proof of residential address
- Proof of current employment such as:
- - Current pay stub with Greenwich address
- - Employer letter on company stationery
People who go to school in Greenwich need to present:
- Proof of current student status
People whose principal residence is a Connecticut municipality other than Greenwich need to present:
- A valid library card from their home library
- Photo identification with proof of residence in that municipality
People who do not live in Greenwich or in the State of Connecticut may purchase a Greenwich Library card. They need to present:
- Photo identification
- Proof of residential address
- $125.00 (cash or check)

Q. How long may I keep materials?
A. The Length of time that materials may be kept varies:
- Books, Audio Books, CDs, and Audiotapes may be borrowed for three weeks
- Movies may be borrowed for one week
- Interlibrary Loans may be borrowed for three weeks
- Art prints circulate for six weeks
Q. How much does it cost if I don't get my materials back on time?
A. Overdue fines vary:
- Adult books, CDs and Audiocassettes: $.10 a day, $5 maximum
- Childrens books, CDs and Audiocassettes: $.05 a day, $3 maximum
- Movies: $1 a day, $20 maximum
- Interlibrary loan materials: $1 a day, $20 maximum
- Lending art items: $1 a day, $20 maximum
