  • Q. What can I do if I have paid for construction work at my house, I'm not satisfied with the result and I can't get the contractor to return to fix it to my satisfaction?
    A.
    Call the Consumer Affairs Coordinator at (203) 622-7710. He will act as an ombudsman between the homeowner and the contractor. listening to both sides of the story so that he can resolve the issue satisfactorily between all partiies. However, if the homeowner already has engaged an attorney, the Consumer Affairs Coordinator cannot help to resolve the problem.


    Q. Do scales in stores have to be in sight of the consumer so we can read the weight on products we purchase?
    A.
    By law, scales cannot be hidden from consumers. Scales must be in full sight of purchasers.


    Q. Are vendors who sell food on the streets of Greenwich licensed?
    A.
    Absolutely. Vendors must complete applications, which are reviewed by the Police Department and Consumer Affairs. Only if they are approved, do they receive a license.
