New Goose Management Plan Greenwich's First Selectman, Jim Lash, announced today that the town would begin a two-year program that will use non-lethal best management practices (BMPs) to control Canada geese in town parks. Hundreds of resident Canada geese, the term used to refer to Canada geese that do not go on the usual migration to Canada, use the parks all year for nesting and feeding. This has created a conflict in the parks between users and geese. In particular, goose droppings on ball fields and other recreational areas often render them unsuitable for public use.
