Deer Herd Reduction Program - Information Letter February 15, 2005
Re: Notice to Abutting Property Owners of Deer Herd Reduction Program on Certain Town-owned parcels
Dear Sir or Madam:
Please be advised that in connection with the Town of Greenwich's deer management program and pursuant to Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection authorization letter dated February 10, 2005, lethal deer removal activities are scheduled to take place on the following Town properties: Pomerance- Pinetum, Babcock Preserve, and Griffith E. Harris Golf Course. This allows for herd reduction activities to take place between February 10, 2005 and March 31, 2005 upon notification of abutters. With the exception of the golf course which is closed to the public during winter, these properties are normally opened to the public from dawn to dusk. To ensure public safety during this program, exact opening and closing times for the properties have been set as follows from February 18, to March 31, 2005:
Pomerance-Pinetum - open 7 a.m closed 6 p.m. Griffin E. Harris Golf Course - closed for winter until March 25, 2005 (weather permitting). Starting March 25, 2005 open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Babcock Preserve - open 7 a.m. closed 4 p.m.
The exact locations and dates of the sharp shoot program will be determined by weather conditions, wind speed and direction. Specific information will be available on the Town website and or by calling the hotline number beginning on February 18, 2005. Updates will be posted every 24 hours during the work week beginning on February 18 until the program is complete. A follow-up letter will be sent at the conclusion of the program.
