Reporting Black Bear Sightings Over the past few years, the population of black bears has been increasing in Connecticut. The Connecticut Department of Environment Protection has not had an official sighting reported in Greenwich, however, evidence of black bear at the Audubon Center was reported to the Greenwich Conservation Director several years ago. DEP does have records of sightings in Wilton, New Canaan, and Ridgefield.
All sightings of black bear should be reported to the DEP and the Town Conservation Director. Below is the web link to report a sighting at DEP and for other information on black bear in Connecticut.
