Treasury
Town Treasurer: Kathleen A. Murphy The Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Comptroller, is responsible for the prudent management and investment of monies of Town funds. Investment policies and guidelines are established as permitted by Sections 7-401 and 7-402 of the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut and the policy resolution concerning cash management approved by the Board of Estimate & Taxation. The Treasurer may make, with approval of the Comptroller, demand and/or time deposits in qualified depository banks not to exceed 25 percent of total Town funds. The Treasurer may also purchase, with approval of the Comptroller, participation certificates from the State of Connecticut Short Term Investment Fund (STIF) not to exceed 60 percent of total cash balances as authorized by Sections 3-27b and 3-27f of the General Statutes of Connecticut. The Treasurer, with approval of the Comptroller, may invest monies not to exceed 25 percent of total Town funds in U.S. Government obligations, maintained by financial institutions, registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 as authorized by Section 36a-353 of the General Statutes of Connecticut, as approved by the Board of Estimate. The Treasurer may, with approval of the Comptroller, open accounts as approved by the Board of Estimate for management of General Funds and Reserve Funds in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes Section 7-400 for General Fund, and Connecticut General Statutes Section 7-362 and Section 7-403a for Reserve Funds.
