The Town of Greenwich offers several retirement plans to its employees: a Defined Benefit Pension plan, a 401(k) Savings plan and a 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan. The Retirement Plans Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of all of the Town's retirement plans and programs, under the supervision of the Retirement Board and the Comptroller.


Defined Benefit Pension Plan

The Defined Benefit Pension Plan is a trust fund established under Article 14 of the Town Charter to provide retirement allowances for employees of the Town. The Retirement Board serves as Trustee of the Town of Greenwich Retirement System and the Retirement Plans Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the plan.


401(k) Savings Plan

The Comptroller serves as Plan Administrator of the 401(k) Savings plan, which was established in 1989 as a supplemental retirement savings program for employees of the Town of Greenwich. The Retirement Plans Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the 401(k) Savings plan.

The Town matches a portion of employee contributions made to this plan. The specific terms of the Town's matching contribution is outlined in the various collective bargaining agreements.

Quarterly meetings will be held during the latter half of January, April, July and October. Meeting reminders with specific dates, times and locations will be mailed to participants along with their quarterly statements.


457 (b) Deferred Compensation Plan

The Comptroller serves as Plan Administrator of the 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan, which was established in 2004 as a supplemental retirement savings program for employees of the Town of Greenwich. The Retirement Plans Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan.

The Town does not match employee contributions made to this plan.
